Save money on your wedding cake

First, decide if you are serving your wedding cake in place of a desert at your reception, this can reduce your menu costs considerably. Also check that your venue will allow brought in cake, if they charge for allowing this or if they insist on an in-house cake which will be expensive.
Are you able to make your own cake from scratch? or have a friend or relative help out and give it to you as a wedding present.?
You can always opt to have a baker make the basic iced cake and decorate it yourself to produce a cake that is truly unique to you.
To reduce costs even further, many supermarkets now sell wedding cakes in different sizes so you can purchase them and again, decorate yourself. Marks and Spencers offer a good quality iced cake.
You can source lost of decorating supplies and ideas on he Internet.

Cup cake towers are fast becoming a popular choice and they work out cheaper than a traditional cake. You can make them yourself, or again have a baker make them for you and decorate yourself.
These are perfect for serving in place of a desert, they make more of an impact when served to a guest, as unlike a cut slice of cake, they are a visual delight.
